I didn’t always love cheese, though. As a kid I was easy when it came to food, which I assume has something to do with the fact that my parents always let me share in their meals, without forcing me to eat anything. And I have to credit my mother for being an adventurous chef, who wouldn’t boil vegetables to a pulp, and my father for demonstrating how much FUN it is to poke around in a crab’s leg to extract the tastiest bits. I thought endives were the pinnacle of culinary bliss, and gobble up brussels sprouts like they are nature’s candy.
But despite my parents’ best efforts, for a long time I HATED cheese. Now I am an afficionado. How’d that happen? (more…)
